Marissa just launched SLAWBLOGGER (I’m the only follower so far!) so if you like beautiful pictures of slaw and a cute cute girl, how could you NOT follow it like right now ?? A couple other posts on there to check out too … any suggestions for slaw joints in the LA-area to check out?

House of Pies is an old-school diner-type place in the hood. They have a gazillion pies, but also normal diner fare. We stopped in today specifically to get their coleslaw because it’s a bit unusual. They have ‘Hawaiian style’ slaw, which is any variation of coleslaw featuring pineapple, as far as I can tell.

This coleslaw is a little like eating dessert - it’s definitely on the sweet end of the spectrum, with no discernible tang. Not to say it’s bad at all (I like a sweet slaw!), but there’s nothing fancy about this - just some cabbage, pineapple and dressing. Oh, so much dressing! I really shouldn’t complain about an over-dressed slaw though, since last weekend’s severely under-dressed slaw at the apple farm was inedible.

3.5 out of 5 cabbage heads.

Haha, I love critiquing slaw. So many places serve weak slaw.
